TRUE CLEANING FIELD GUIDE
Commercial cleaning checklist for offices
Use this planning checklist to define daily, recurring and periodic cleaning priorities for an occupied office.
Reviewed and updated: August 4, 2026
Entrances, reception and shared areas
The first visible areas usually require the most frequent presentation checks because they collect outside soil and shape a visitor’s first impression.
- Remove visible litter and clean entrance glass as agreed
- Vacuum or mop traffic lanes and entry flooring
- Dust reception surfaces and straighten shared areas
- Empty waste and address visible fingerprints
Workstations and conference rooms
Cleaning around occupied desks requires a documented policy for papers, electronics and personal items.
- Empty designated bins without disturbing documents
- Dust accessible, clear surfaces
- Vacuum traffic areas and under accessible furniture
- Clean conference tables, chair touchpoints and presentation areas
Kitchens and restrooms
High-use kitchens and restrooms often need a different frequency from private offices.
- Clean and disinfect agreed restroom fixtures and touchpoints
- Restock client-provided or contracted supplies
- Wipe breakroom counters, sinks and exterior appliance surfaces
- Clean floors and remove waste
- Report leaks, damage or depleted supplies
Floors, glass and periodic work
Separate routine floor care from periodic extraction, refinishing or high-access work. Add inspection notes for recurring trouble spots, edges and entrances.
- Vacuum carpet according to traffic level
- Mop hard floors with material-appropriate products
- Schedule interior glass and detail work
- Document periodic carpet or specialty-floor needs separately
Quality-control questions
The final checklist should assign frequency, define acceptable completion, identify restricted spaces and explain how inspections, service requests and corrections are documented.
